Life’s a Vicious Cycle…

This post is dedicated to Zainab, thank You for always reading and commenting and My one and only brother Femi, Happy birthday boo. xoxoxo.

The older you grow, the more relationships you build, cut-off, cherish, nourish, let go etc. The way I am wired, I make friends easily because I am very easy to talk to and a guy once told me I exude comfort *lol*. Now this has landed me in trouble when I was younger and naive, the heart-broken guys will come to me to talk, wallow and I would listen, exude comfort and then feelings  would develop and I would slide into rebound chick. Needless to say, my exuding comfort is now a very scarce commodity.

I have also fallen in love with the wrong people and after a while I realize a relationship with them would not work, rather than cutting them off especially when it’s a good friendship, I let go, suck up my feelings and remain friends because I value a good healthy friendship. *mature init?* Now, my problem is why can’t most guys do the same thing????

I had this really good friend, the odds were not in our favour to date and I realized this early enough but he just did not let go. After subtle hints of you MUST date me, came not so subtle hints and then DP’s and Pm’s dissing me. I was really pained, why can’t we just remain friends and live in peace.

And then, the brother ghosted me, from zero to hundred real quick. Why do you have to try to manipulate me to dating you? Last I checked, we are in the 21st century right? Is it really woth it to sacrifice a good friendship for a relationship set for doom? Life’s a vicious cycle I know, we fall in love with the wrong people, hurt those who love us, don’t realize what we have until we lose it but friendship’s are key and sometimes, a friend is even closer than a sibling.

You can’t always get what you want and rather than loosing it all, cherish the friendship and hope to meet the person meant for you. Am I delusional or YOU can relate with me??? I am waiting on batted breath for your comments and mails.

  1. Ooooh my!!!! Your comments are giving me life. lol, “The dog died …..” is deep though lol. For starters, most times its the guys that frustrate the girls so much until the girls pull the plug and then when its over, he starts regretting. Secondly, I just feel guys sometimes are sooo blinded by love that they ruin friendships, of which love is a very vague word. I know a guy who asked a girl out on and off for 4 years and when they finally started dating, the relationship barely lasted two months. Relationships working out or not are pretty complicated but what more can I say? Life’s a vicious cycle, lets just hope that the odds fall in our favour. Thank You so much for taking out time to read and comment. Looking forward to more comments.

  2. There’s a quote you might ve seen floatn around: “‘We can still b friends’ is like saying ‘The dog died, but we can still keep it.'”
4sum of us, that’s a pretty popular sentiment, but most of us don’t stay friends with our exes. Once sumtin is over, it can be painful to have constant reminders of what used 2 b. 4 sum of us, the remaining digital and analogue ties only encourage our most obsessive, Facebook-stalking behaviors. i found it difficult edging but I wuld say it worth it.
Those who can stay friends with a former love are d most mature, satisfied partners among us — and d ones comin 4rm romances that were built on real friendship….
